There But Not There – Remembered

Remembered – a new charity has been launched –

  • Remembered is a charity launched with 3 aims:
  • To Commemorate the Fallen through highlighting the sacrifices made. The 2018 Armistice Project, There But Not There, will be the Centenary Commemoration for the end of the First World War.
  • To Educate all generations, particularly today’s younger generation, born nearly 100 years after the outbreak of WW1, to understand what led to the deaths of 888,246 British and Commonwealth men.
  • To help Heal those suffering from the hidden wounds of post-traumatic stress disorder and other lasting legacies of combat, by raising funds for our beneficiary charities

  • There But Not There is the inaugural project from the charity ‘Remembered’, marking 100 years since the end of the First World War through art installations around the UK.
  • A range of model ‘Tommies’ are being produced and sold by the charity – all profits made from these models, which are built by veterans from Royal British Legion Industries, will go to a group of mental health and armed forces charities, all of which are supporting the campaign throughout the year.
  • Seated silhouettes will sit wherever there is a roll of honour, taking names off memorial walls and putting them back into communities’ psyche.

The Wyndham Singers

Need Your Vote!
As you may possibly know, Charles, our organist at Plymtree, is a member of the Wyndham Singers, who, each year, put on Concerts to raise funds for their chosen charity.  This year they are supporting CHAT, the Churches Housing Action Team, a body concerned with helping the homeless and those struggling with money problems and crippling debt.  Homelessness is a real problem in our part of the world, and especially in and around Tiverton.
CHAT is about to lose their Debt and Money Advisor, and have applied to Aviva for a £10,000 grant to maintain their vitally important work. Put simply, each year, Aviva gives awards to projects which attract the highest number of votes.
If you would like to vote for this cause, please visit Plymtree’s website at www.plymtree.org.uk/st-john-the-baptist
